2023 SEA Games Torch Arrives in Singapore

SINGAPORE: The Torch Relay for the 2023 SEA Games-ASEAN Para Games was held in Singapore on the morning of 15 April 2023.

The event was led by Secretary of State for the Ministry of Tourism, Hor Sarun, along with Cambodia’s Ambassador to Singapore, Sok Khoeun. Singapore’s Minister of Culture, Community and Youth, Edwin Tong, was also in attendance alongside 500 Singaporean athletes.

Sec. Hor Sarun said that today's Torch Relay demonstrates the friendly relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore; that the torch is a symbol of energy, friendship, solidarity and sustainability-all of which are universal values of both countries in sports and daily life.

He said that for 64 years, since the SEA Games began in 1959, Cambodia has been waiting for the opportunity to host the games. With only 24 days left until the games begin, 2023 is a special year for Cambodia.

The torch will continue on to Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei and Laos before returning to Cambodia on 27 April, where it will be paraded around the Tonle Sap Lake before arriving at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on 5 May to inaugurate the SEA Games - Para Games.
